It's a mostly cloudy, yet seasonable October afternoon. A light breeze is blowing and a slight hint of moisture in the air. A sure sign of an approaching storm. A typical way to end the week. It always seems to rain on the weekends. The weather usually puts a damper on most peoples plans, but not everyones.........
Employees of the GenLife Genetics Research Center go about their daily routines. GenLife Genetics is well known in the industry for their major accomplishments in DNA research. Research which has lead many hospitals and medical centers to cure normally fatal diseases in patients with paralyzation or immobilization.
GenLifes current breakthrough as been in DNA reinitialization vaccines which brings normally dead tissue and muscles back to life. A small dose will mix with an individuals water content in their bodies thus regenerating expired DNA within blood cells and body tissue helping patients lead a more normal life.
Dr. Evan Woodward works with two member of his staff, preparing to dispose of a batch of the DNA Vaccine before their shift leaves for the weekend. The last of the Hazardous waist canisters is sealed, locked in it's travel container, and set aside for pick up from the disposal company.
"Bob, have all of the canisters been signed and dated on the disposal tags and Logged on the HGS sheet?" Dr. Woodward asks.

"Yeap! Everything is ready to go as usual. Just waiting for the truck to arrive." Bob replies as he looks at his watch. "They should have been here almost an hour ago though, I wonder what's keeping them."?

"Shannon just went to go make a call and find out what the hold up is. I wanna get outta here!" Bob remarks. " Gotta hot date cooking for this evening and I aint missing it for nothing..." He says while Smirking.....

Evan walks over to the window in the far corner of the lab, looking into the office where Shannon is talking on the phone. She paces back and forth as far as the cord will let her travel. She has a look of disgust on her face as she waves her hand around with guestures of anger. Curious as to what the problem is, Evan walks around into the office just as she is hanging up the phone.

" Can you believe this crap. The truck is stuck in transit." Shannon yells. " The roads are washed out due to that storm that is coming, so they had to turn back."

" Well, I hate to break it to you both." Evan says as Bob enters the office. "But, You know policy, one of you has to stay until the canisters leave this building.

"Well, I gotta go!" Shannon states. "I got kids and I get home before my husband heads out to his job. I CAN'T STAY! They said they will get the truck rerouted and here by early morning tomorrow"

All eyes turn to Bob. "Looks like your the one Bobby boy." Evan chuckles,,,,,

"Awwwww what the ....." Bob stops his sentence short." " Why do I always have to be the one who suffers when this crap happens. Can't we just dump it or something?"

" You know we can't do that Bob, Come on. You knew the rules of the job before you got hired on. This isn't just left over soup you can dump down the drain when you don't wanna finish it." Evan Lectures. "You know what happens when this stuff mixes with water." It needs to be properly monitored." Now, pull up a chair and relax. Your gonna have a nice night."

Bob pulls up a chair, plunks his butt down, folds his arms and pouts like a kid as his fellow coworkers leave the room.

"Lock up once they make the pick up Bobby." Shouts Evan as he closes the door behind him and heads for home.

" Lock up when they get here Bobby!!!" Bob blabbers in a sarcastic voice. " I can't believe this. Always screwed out of everything."

Bob sits and gloats for a while when a huge clap of thunder booms overhead. The lights blink off and on quickly. "Oh great! That's all I need. Stupid powers gonna go out with me stuck in here. "Wonder if there is a flashlight or something." Bob combs through the desk and then out into the lab. "Nothing." Bob mumbles. Bob searches through other rooms in the building only to come up empty. " They spend all this money and can't give anyone a damn flashlight?"
Another clap of thunder booms overhead and the sound of rain begins to patter on the roof above. "Pissin on my parade, are ya" he smirks as he walks back to the main lab. Suddenly bob gets an idea. Really not wanting to be stuck in the lab all night, he thinks that putting the canisters into the plants furnace will burn the material and leave no evidence for anyone to see and he can leave. Bob makes a quick call to the pick up company and tells them they can wait and get this pickup on their normal Monday route.
"I am not missing this date for nothing." A quick burn off and I am home free. No one will be the wiser." Bob says to himself and he loads the small canisters into the burn chute. He closes the door behind him and starts the burner. To quicken the process he cranks the thermostat to high and waits. Smoke billows up the huge concrete stack behind the building, filling the evening sky with a colorful cloud. After a good wait, Bob turns the dial down and shuts down the burner. He reaches for a thick lab glove and opens the door. A pile of melted plastic fragments and ashes is all that remains. He then happily slams the door closed, packs up his stuff and heads out of the building. Locking up behind him.

Speeding down the wet, rain slickened roads, The shinny black T-top cuts through the darkness leaving a spray of mist in it's wake. A red scanning light mounted up front, just under the hood, trailing from side to side as the car continues on its way. Lower fog lamps light the roadway below as the rain settles into a lighter falling from the previous down pour encountered just minutes before. A dashboard full of lights and digital gauges, glare off the drivers face. Behind the wheel of the most advanced car ever made is Michael Knight. An operative working for the Foundation for Law and Government. Suddenly a voice cuts the silence.
"Michael" K.I.T.T. says.

"Yes K.I.T.T....." Michael Knight replies.

"Devon expected us hours ago. What are you going to tell him?" K.I.T.T. asks.....

"K.I.T.T., It's been raining cats and dogs out for hours now. Half the roads around here are flooded out. What does he expect from us. I know you don't like to travel on water. Do you?" Michael says back to his partner.

"Perish the though Michael. I am a car..... not a speed boat." K.I.T.T. remarks. " And besides, Your little get together with that girl back there isn't what I would call "Weather Related" either."

"Now K.I.T.T., Devon doesn't need to know every detail. Lets just blame it on the weather, shall we." Michael forcefully replies.

"What ever you say Michael." K.I.T.T. responds with. " Speaking of raining cats and dogs Michael, I am detecting an animal in the road ahead of us. It will be blocking our way if we continue."

K.I.T.T. slows to a stop a about 12 feet from the body of the animal. Michael pauses for a moment, looking through the windshield, before he opens the drivers door. He walks around the car and hunches over the body which is literally sliced in half.

"Hit by a passing truck or someting. Poor thing didn't have a chance." Michael turns and says to K.I.T.T.

" Michael," K.I.T.T. states as his scanner starts to speed up. "My sensors detect that it has been out here for several hours. I don't think there is anything we can do for it. It is dead."
